Sick chocs

So at 1am last night my choco chunk threw up about three times. Im not sure why however he ate about 3 milkybar buttons on Friday evening so im a little worried it was that.  He also ate a new bone chew on Saturday early evening so maybe it is that?

5th October

So this morning I decided it was time Chocs came off his lead and had some freedom.  So we took a walk too a field down the road from us which is fenced in and isn't as easy to escape from as the usual place I take him.
Chocs absolutely loved it! The freedom of running after his ball and exploring for 5mins was amazing for him. Over time I will extend the amount of time he is off the lead aa he gets better with his training.  Chocs had such a good time that when we got home he slept in his arm chair for nearly half the day!

2nd October

So today we have had a very active with a total of 4 hours exercise!  Plus whatever he had in the garden.  For such a big boy Chocs certainly loves his exercise and will kesp going til he is exhausted.
Chocs has been extremely popular everywhere we have been and he is starting to catch the nickname chunks.
I went on a walk today with chocs and a friend today and chocs thought it would be absolutely hilarious to run around his feet causing him to fall over several times.  Chocs is a good boy however he really does have a cheeky side to him

Lots of love jess and chocs xxx

Chocs is losing weight!!

Hey Everyone,

So my gorgeous boy has lost 2kg in a week! We are so ridiculously proud of him, and we are already seeing the benefits of him losing weight. His breathing has got better,  he is able to run for longer, he isn't as feisty when it comes to giving him drinks and he isnt eating his food as quickly allowing him to saviour it. My gorgeous boy is on the road to being a healthy boy and i couldn't be more proud!

As its getting darker on our evening walks, we have started to try and get Chocs to show up in the night making sure he is super safe. However he is managing to wriggle out of his High Vis jacket, so we have brought him a light that clips on to his collar, uv tape to go on his lead and fluorescent snap ons to go on me and him. We want him to be safe as possible. Does anyone have any other suggestions of how to keep him safe at night?

Week One

Hi Everyone,

We have had such an active week! This week Chocs has been settling into family life, and he has done an amazing job! We could not be any more in love with him if we tried, he is a perfect boy and has fitted in so well. With having young sisters and a cat there is always that worry he may react badly however he is such a big softie he just does not care!

So this week Chocs has started his diet. In a day Chocs has 2-3 walks these are his morning walk, school run and evening walk as well as having full access to the garden constantly, playtime when everyone is home and access to a family friends amazing garden! He is constantly on his feet and loves to be active (which makes me wonder how he got to be such a big boy).  Chocs food consists of one cup of diet dry food, mixed with two forkfuls of meat and a teaspoon of olive oil, and he has this once in the morning and once in the evening. Treats we use our just bits of his dried food and sometimes a bone treat which the place we adopted Chocs from recommended as the fat content is nothing.

Chocs went to the vets this week and got weighed, he came out at a whopping 40kg!!

However we are already seeing some changes in our boy showing his fitness is improving and that he is losing weight! His harness and collar are becoming very lose and he isn't inhaling his food as much as when we first started out.

Hey

Hi Everyone,

I have set up this blog to show the journey of Chocs my 7yr old chocolate Labrador through his weight loss programme.

Background
We adopted Chocs from a dogs home only a week ago today, after falling in love with him two weeks ago. We were informed he is obese and is nearly 3st over weight! So as his new dedicated loving owners we are working hard to get him fit and healthy, and most importantly make sure he is happy and loved!

Thank you for reading our first post and here is a few pictures of our gorgeous boy Chocs the first day we got him.
